Joining in on postgame prayers?

I was once asked by the coach to lead a post-game prayer after a basketball game. I did so.

I don't think I did anything wrong.

Then I'm sure you have no problem being part of the story as a reporter...

I was in the small locker room, waiting for him to finish talking to the players. I knew them all and felt comfortable around them. The coach asked me to pray. I did.

How does the size of the locker room or whether you knew them all or felt comfortable around them allow you such a grotesque breach of ethics?

Small Southern towns, like my hometown, are a lot different about these things, you know. What's "a grotesque breach of ethics" in one place wouldn't be given a second thought in the kind of place I think 3BF is talking about.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but a grotesque breach of ethics in your book might not equal such in mine.

I wouldn't go so far as callling it a "grotesque breach of ethics." Praying with the team isn't like sleeping with your sources. In the grand scheme of things I don't think it's THAT big of a deal. Just not something I would participate in.
