Pretty funny. Perry and the Secret Service toting heat.

I blame the rap videos. Those NWA people were running with guns in the video of "100 miles and running" and this young, impressionable governor of Texas thought that's how you go for a run. Will someone please think of the politicians.

The funniest part is his explanation that he does it to protect against "wild animal attacks." Yeah, because we all know how many downtown Austin joggers get mauled by bears every year.

Christ, I don't think I can take another dimwitted fake-macho Texas-cliche presidency.

I didn't notice it until now, but what the hell is the background image of that?

"I'm enjoying the run when something catches my eye and it's this coyote. I know he knows I'm there. He never looks at me, he is laser-locked on that dog," Perry said.

"I holler and the coyote stopped. I holler again. By this time I had taken my weapon out and charged it. It is now staring dead at me. Either me or the dog are in imminent danger. I did the appropriate thing and sent it to where coyotes go," he said.

Perry said the laser-pointer helped make a quick, clean kill.

"It was not in a lot of pain," he said. "It pretty much went down at that particular juncture."

I'll say it, Rick Perry is a liar.

I've lived in the country. If you got a dog with you, a coyote won't come with 1,000 feet of a human, unless it was sick or injured.

I don't doubt he saw a coyote, but if you saw one, hollered at it and then charged. A coyote would have turned and ran. I don't even doubt that Perry squeezed off a round but it isn't the right kind of gun to kill such a small target that is also likely on the move.

Perry's security detail was not required to file a report about the governor discharging a weapon...

not that it matters, the security detail wasn't with him. Perry was jogging, by himself.

The governor left the coyote where it fell.

"He became mulch," Perry said.

I wish I knew how to post that picture of the owl that says ORLY

What a great story to tell on the campaign trail, other than it reeks of complete and utter bull****.

Liar. That's Perry.
