This is something that actually seems plausible to me -- that a female could develop a good enough knuckleball and make it to the majors. Besides golf and bowling, and maybe placekicking/punting, a good knuckleball seems about the most likely way for a woman to make it in male professional sports.

After all, how much arm strength do you need for a knuckleball? Very little. And if she signed with an AL team, she'd never have to bat. Now the rampant misogyny I'm sure she'd face -- that's another problem entirely.

I think its just some of internet buildup to some new, top-of-the-line Asian porn.

I don't think we'll ever see this in this country. I think, at least I hope, there'll be a professional softball league within the next 15 years. It'll be a more successful WNBA.

I think of any of the four major sports, a pitcher would be the most likely chance a woman would have. The other thing might be a goaltender in hockey.

Women can throw softballs very fast, and that might be possible that a woman could get pitchers out. Think somebody like Dan Quisenberry. Women have played in high school.

I don't think the verbal abuse factor would be as bad as people might think so long as the female pitcher could get batters out. I think this Japanese 16-year-old girl is just too small physically to play serious baseball - she is only five feet tall and weighs 114 lbs.

Well, I'll be. I hope it catches on because I really dig softball. Not only am I an All-Star; it's fun to watch, too.

It's slow in developing but softball is a great sport. In the early 90's there was a short-lived men's professional league.

I love to play it, but I can't stand watching it. The field is too condensed and is much tougher to get a hit to fall in than in baseball. I've covered some pretty high level fastpitch and it is just so boring. The only time runs were generated (unless someone went yard) was off of fielding errors or walks, so by the other team screwing up. I just found it incredibly frustrating to watch. But having played the game (never at a high level) I can completely understand the obsession.
