I'm sure this comes as little surprise. He is nominally an NBA guy according to the front page intro, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him do more.

You've got to put a little asterisk there. He didn't have a job exactly lined up, but he sure had enough irons in the fire not to worry about it.

He's been a contributer at ESPN for a few years now. I'm sure they weren't paying him peanuts for Around The Horn and any other guest appearances or NBA work. He may not have left the Times for ESPN, but I'm sure he knew exactly where he was going to end up.

It was in the works, yes, but when he left the Times, he did not have a job.

As anyone in Bristol will tell you, it's hardly the same thing, even though it would be obvious to think otherwise...

That's why so many ESPN employees get "special to" bylines when they write for the website.

.com employee, like Forde, Geno, etc ...
