Texas Tech student columnist plagiarizes article on plagiarism. He's since been fired, here's the story on the termination:

Re: Is nothing sacred plagiarists?

I think you need a comma or a 'to' in the hed

PS. What a dumbass.

Re: Is nothing sacred plagiarists?

In no way, shape or form should the phrase "no way, shape or form" ever appear in print, unless it's a quote, and it better be a great quote.

Re: Is nothing sacred plagiarists?

One of the stories he stole was "Plagiarism is not a sin." You think he figured the author just wouldn't care?

In no way, shape or form should be care, or he would be a hypocrite in dealing with a very serious problem in our society.

God bless you, college paper people. I miss the days...

Judging by a few of his columns, I don't think the paper lost much from his transgression. Aside from a smidge of integrity.

I've been on this forum for a short time and this is the second thread I've seen that has been Alanis-jacked.

If you believe the person replying on this Google Group is him, he's been waiting since "recently" to copy this column.

Recently, my cousin sent me a book called "Days of War, Nights of
Love", published by Crimethinc., a small group of anarchist
revolutionaries that basically distribute their propaganda in book
form. The first page of the book (which is not copyrighted) urges
people to take lines from the book, to claim them as their own or to
leave them nameless. It encourages plagiarism in the name of
spreading revolutionary ideas to everyone, with no emphasis on who
owns the ideas or where they come from.

I was inspired by this belief, and published two articles trying to
spread this train of thought. I encouraged plagiarism in the name of
spreading revolutionary ideas to everyone, with no emphasis on who
owns the ideas or where they come from.

Maybe he was being ironical?

Naa, it was a free ride when he already paid.

You live, you learn.

Mmmm. Alanis. Okay, guys, I'm sorry. :)

Back on topic: You gotta wonder what goes through some people's minds. Do they think they're not going to get caught, especially in this day and age?

That is a good question. Can I have that one?

Would my approval make a difference?
