Yes, we have a BKC thread but didn't want this to get buried.

The Iona Gaels are the new No. 1 team in the US of A.

Iona beat Rider
Rider beat Drexel
Drexel beat Syracuse
Syracuse beat Marquette
Marquette beat Duke
Duke beat Clemson
Clemson beat Florida State
Florida State beat Florida

Go Gaels!

Rider beat Drexel? Awesome! That'll hurt the Dragons' at-large chances.

Nah, the Dragons ought to be in regardless.

Don't be so sure, Oz. They've hit the skids in recent weeks. Fourth place in the CAA isn't going to cut it.

I've got faith in them, for some reason. KU needs to lose to someone in the first round, you know.

One of the many reasons Rider lost to Iona was that their lone senior (who is also their only true point guard with much experience) was suspended for that game for disciplinary reasons.

Does this mean Iona gets to play in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl?

But if the Gaels can win four games in four days in the MAAC tournament they can earn an automatic NCAA bid .. with 5 or 6 wins

It'll be six. They still get to play Delaware, which is rapidly closing in on as many players (7) as wins (4) following another suspension.

Iona played the game without its best player due to injury--not to mention 3 other starters who are missing because of injury or academics.

They'll be in my sidesig when the MAAC tournament starts, then. A 5-win team in the NCAAs? I'm there.

Yes, but to truly savor it, they'll have to get out of Dayton
