I've tried everything I know to do and they won't go away. Someone help! These are the kind that hurt.
You are having hiccups because you are out of your regular breathing pattern. It is very random and there is no know cure but I have always found that if I hold my breath a few times it usually clears quickly.spup1122 said:I've tried everything I know to do and they won't go away. Is the epiglottis the diaphragm?spup1122 said:Problem solved. I took a big breath, swallowed it, and then pushed out on my stomach and chest as much as possible. Put enough pressure on the diaphragm to flip it back to its correct position.

Place it on the kitchen counter.
Bend over and drink out of the glass as much as you can from the far side without picking it up.
I've seen this work but never actually tried it.

I always thought that was a "cure" offered solely by people wanting to be entertained by their hiccup-inflicted and soon-to-be-drenched friends.
