Arlo Guthrie's not dead. He recently retired from touring. His father, Woody Guthrie, died far too young of Huntington's disease.

Yes, the events in the song actually happened, but it was the day after Thanksgiving 1965 in the Berkshires, Massachusetts. There is an Alice, and she had multiple restaurants. "Officer Obie" died in 1994. No clue about the father-rapers on the Group W bench.

The Guthrie Center is giving free Thanksgiving dinner to go today.

Ah, that's old age for you. I remembered something but failed to remember it correctly. Thank you for the correction. Maybe I'll get lucky to run into him in Sebastian some time.

I'm alone outside with my turkey fryer, a cigar, beer and a note that says "No funeral" taped to my Mark Sanchez jersey. This is the best part of the day.

Not only is Arlo Guthrie not dead, as mentioned, he still lives two towns away from Stockbridge and the former Alice’s Restaurant. His compound still has his old touring buses in the yard.

Fun fact: Arlo can head west and hike through the woods and the next house he will come to is James Taylor’s.

Adam Carolla has a bit called "Rich Man, Poor Man" in which he points out that a lot of the things very rich people do and have are simply fancier versions of things very poor people do.
I think "Having a compound with a couple of derelict buses on the property" would fall under that category.
