Gordon Gee makes fun of the Notre Dame priests ...

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The president of Ohio State University said Notre Dame never was invited to join the Big Ten because the university's priests are not good partners, joking that "those damn Catholics" can't be trusted, according to a recording of a meeting he attended late last year.

... the SEC ...

At a meeting of Ohio State's Athletic Council on Dec. 5, someone asked Gee how to respond to the nuclear physicists in SEC country who find it hilarious that an 11-team conference that expanded to 12 and then 14 schools still calls itself the Big Ten. "You tell the SEC when they can learn to read and write, then they can figure out what we're doing," Gee cracked, according to an audio recording of the meeting obtained by The Associated Press.

... Louisville ...

The top goal of Big Ten presidents is to "make certain that we have institutions of like-minded academic integrity," Gee said. "So you won't see us adding Louisville," which is also joining the ACC.

... and now Cincinnati ...

Gee on Cincinnati and entry in the Big Ten:

“You know Penn State just abhors Pitt. It would be the same way. Even though we love Cincinnati as a city, we want it to be an Ohio State city. They’d have to take (athletic director) Gene (Smith) out and shoot him to let Cincinnati into the Big Ten. There are some things that we just would not to. And that’s the way that Penn State also feels about Pitt.”

... so tOSU trustees rip on him.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State University's top trustees say insensitive comments by the university president have embarrassed and divided the university.

The trustees say in a letter to president Gordon Gee that his comments risk diminishing the collective efforts of the university and of Gee's own good work.

The March 11 letter was obtained Friday by The Associated Press.

Gee does tend to put his foot in his mouth from time to time. I really wonder how people like that get and keep these high level jobs. If some assistant coach or SID says the same things, I wonder if that person would be fired on the spot.

Didn't know he was Mormon.

And he was at Vandy. Believe he was the one who dumped the athletic department in with the intramurals.

Not to get too cliched in my outrage, but if Gee said "you can't trust those damn Jews," Thee Ohio State University would've dragged him out of his office by the bow tie by now. I know Catholics have done some ****ty **** over the last 1,000 years, but I feel we deserve a better antagonist that a dip**** like Gee.

At least when Mencken was mocking Catholics, he did it with wit.

He is right about ND
Wonder how Gee's football coach who is Catholic and named after a pope feels about this ... not that I care much if that prick feels anything.

And he claims Barry Alvarez said Bret Bielema is a "thug" ...

I can't let a Bielema reference go by when this is out there.

He's still going for two on Coach Brew!

Fast-forward to Thursday; Brewster is now an assistant at Florida State (#NoleNation), where you cannot hunt an alligator with a pellet gun. Bielema is the head coach at Arkansas. They are not in the same conference, but they surely compete for some of the same players. And they still really don't like each other -- or at least Bielema made it clear he doesn't like Brewster, per these tweets:

Gone.

He's 69 and senile. Retirement is calling. Gotta be tough to give up that million-dollar salary, but I'm sure the state-funded pension will suffice. Some Gees got it good.

Not one state pension - he's got them coming from WV, Vandy and every other stop along the way. He'll make more in retirement than he did working. Not to mention he'll probably get some choice gigs as an"interim" president at two or three schools who can take an entire academic year to fill the post.
