All:
The person we had been working with in this role is no longer available, so we're in search for a new weekend editor/coordinator. Those interested should please contact

Our post last summer was fairly generic because we didn't have a lot of information about the role yet, but now I can say more specifically that we're looking to contract an editor who can be on call for approximately two weekends each month, with our full-time staffers handling the other weekends.
This contract editor will oversee a modest schedule of weekend stories, coordinating plans with a writer and doing standard edits on submitted stories. The stories relate to sporting events taking place around the world, so the commitment varies slightly from week to week. An average weekend is probably 4-6 hours, though it could be more or less, and — importantly — those hours are spread throughout the weekend. So, depending on that weekend's events, you might put in three total hours on a given Saturday, but it might be 1 hour in the morning, 1/2 hour in the early afternoon, 1/2 hour in the evening, and then another 1 hour later at night. Overall, these edits are pretty easy to plan around and shouldn't take up an entire weekend; you'd just need to have some flexibility in your planning.
That said, the ideal candidate for this role has the following:
• Flexibility to jump into edits as needed throughout the weekend
• Experience as a copy editor working with AP Style
• Ability to produce thorough edits on deadline
• Good communication skills for working remotely with a writer
• Experience working within the nuances of Olympic sports is a plus
