Was her name Peg?
If kids want to dance so badly, I'm sure their parents wouldn't complain if they played CDs and danced in the garage. Invite a few friends over and have your own private dance. Take turns having these dances at various homes. When I was a teen ager in the fifties there were what was called "old time" dances in Oldham. The nights that I went I never saw anything bad going on and these dances were for all ages. I'm sure somethings went on outside, but nobody brought anything to drink in, and there was absolutely no food or drink sold on the premises. When the band took intermission, everybody headed to mainstreet, about 1 block away to the cafe to have something to drink. Most of us walked to the cafe. Back then the band took one long break about half way through the dance, they didn't take one every few minutes.

Yeah, but you're the kind of girl who holds hands under the table at the malt shoppe.
