We had the Road to Omaha thread. The CWS is under way.
TCU wins its debut 8-1 against Florida State.
UCLA leads Florida 4-2 in the fourth. Florida center fielder Matt den Dekker just made a catch certain to be the play of the day on "SportsCenter."

I hope I'm not the only one whose first thought when he saw that play was Willie Mays at the Polo Grounds in the '54 Series.

I did, but quickly remembered: Polo Grounds much deeper to CF wall, Mays much farther to run, Mays stops on a dime, spins and throws back to infield. So, yeah, but with important footnotes.

Florida dropped a deuce in the punch bowl today. That squad was the No. 3 National Seed? Yikes. TCU on the other hand dominated in its first CWS appearance. Couldn't be more proud of my Alma Mater. Wish I could have been in Omaha.

UCLA's in great shape, especially since it didn't have to burn Cole in the opener.

Mike Martin coaches FSU. No chance of winning in Omaha.

Why is so Florida State so bad in this event every year?

Bruins are set up pretty good.
TCU will have to use Purke to stay alive against Fla. St.
So if TCU wins, it won't have him to face UCLA. Might have the same guy that got knocked around today or the third starter.
UCLA has Rasmussen, who pitched a two-hitter to beat CS Fullerton, or Bauer, who shut down Florida in the first CWS game.

Cause its a member of the Always Choking Clowns

So does that make Florida a member of the Severely overrated ESPN-hyped and created Clowns?

TCU won't go with Purke against Florida State. Schlossnagle will go with Steven Maxwell Wednesday night.

Maxwell is starting against Gast.

Yep. Them and South Carolina, which just built a second-inning snowman against the tournament's No. 1 seed.

If someone wants to delete this thread or merge it with the Road to Omaha thread, have at it. That one sort of died after super regionals, and now all of a sudden people are posting on it again. We don't need two. My bad, I guess.

Well ... OK, then.
TCU leads Florida State 11-7 in the 8th after trailing by five midway (7-2) and scoring eight in the 8th, capped by a two-out grand slam on a 3-2 pitch.

Not sure how this will finish, but it sure would be appropriate if the final CWS at Rosenblatt featured an epic FSU collapse.
