Turns out one of baseball's softest players was working for HALLIBURTON in Iraq in his later years. He died today of burns suffered in a mysterious fire weeks ago. Apparently, no one knows how a fatally burned Brown got to the hospital for treatment.

I remember reading a story about Brown working for Halliburton. Naturally, the writer took pains to point out that here was the biggest candy-ass in the game working in the most dangerous place on Earth to support his family.

He was very matter-of-fact about it, saying that the opportunity to make a good living was there and if something happened, something happened.

Can't remember if the writer asked about where all his baseball money went, thus necessitating him having to drive a truck for Halliburton in the middle of a take-no-prisoners war zone.
