I've been messing with the beta version the last week or so and so far it's OK. I prefer the current layout myself, but for what they're trying to transition to, the new one makes more sense.

It looks from the beta version like they've removed the automatic video applet...which is a wise decision.

There is so much information on their site, trying to cram everything onto one page is a mistake.

Their front page should look like Google with small links to navigate you to the sport or feature you want. No way should MMA share a screen with horse racing for example.

I get the beta now when I type espn.com into the address bar. I suspect once you visit it, that becomes your default unless you tell it not to use the beta.

@Martin: Absolutely agree on the push video. Office workers across the globe will be thankful they can read ESPN.com at work without SportsCenter suddenly blaring from their computer speakers.

i wouldn't exactly call this an overhaul but it does look cleaner overall...

The top of the beta, with the NFL games, reminds me exactly of the top of NFL.com.

Except, of course, the links are about three times as quick.

I rather like it.
