Ernie Harwell says goodbye to Tigers fans

I can't think of anyone in Michigan, from any walk of life, who is more beloved than Ernie.

Yeah, well Bo sure ****ed that up in the early 90s. I hope he's rotting in hell.

Bo later said that the guy who really pulled the trigger was WJR's general manager, who refused to answer press inquiries, therefore ducked the blame. So, it all was heaped on Bo. The GM also has since died.

I was on duty that night, and was sent out to Domino's franchises. The phones were absolutely dead in those stores.

Makes sense then that WJR no longer carries the Tigers. Or the Red Wings, for that matter. Grew up an hour or so south of the DTW, and WJR came in loud and clear. And now they're wasting that signal on ... wait for it ... Dr. Laura?

Yeah. Bo was a lot of things but stupid wasn't one of them.

It wasn't Bo's idea, but he could have put his foot down and stopped it, and didn't. And of course the role of St. Thomas of Anchovies (Monaghan) was rather significant as well.

Ernie Harwell almost never has an unkind word about anybody. On the subject of Schembechler and Monaghan, he usually remains diplomatically silent.

Detroit also got a sports radio station after that, which may be a contributing factor. Although, I am too young to remember what channels played what sports in the early to mid 90s.
