ProFootballTalk.com saying they are hearing an "incredibly unconfirmed" rumor that Eli is done for the year with a shoulder injury. Regardless of the veracity of the report, I'm sure this rumor will be getting stronger and stronger in the next few days before we find out the truth!

Re: Eli Manning out for the year?

A full season of the Pillsbury Throwboy at QB for the Giants with no running game?

I. Can't. Wait.

Re: Eli Manning out for the year?

Same source as the one that had Randy Moss being cut?

Re: Eli Manning out for the year?

Don't know the source. Could be the same as the one that had Moss being cut, that had everything nailed in the Vick case, or that had Priest Holmes retiring before everyone else mentioned word one. Could be any of those sources, I suppose, or a brand-new one.

Re: Eli Manning out for the year?

Eli was supposed to have an MRI today.

Coughlin's presser is probably about ready to start now, and I'm sure he'll tell the truth about Eli's shoulder

Mort splits the difference and says Manning out at least a month:

Re: Eli Manning out at least a month

Mort on ESPN right now says Giants deny the story and Eli's day-to-day and could very well play Sunday. Mort says he stands by his sources.

I feel bad for Eli, he looked like he was ready to make the jump to becoming a premier qb in this league last night. I can't stand it when the New Yoak media bashes this guy. He's better than both Rivers and Roethlisberger combined.

If Manning is out for a month, he'll miss the following games:

Sunday, 9/16 1:00 PM ET FOX GREEN BAY
Sunday, 9/23 4:15 PM ET FOX at Washington
Sunday, 9/30 8:15 PM ET NBC PHILADELPHIA
Sunday, 10/7 1:00 PM ET CBS NEW YORK JETS

wtf is an 'incredibly unconfirmed' rumor? Someone actually wrote that?

Glad my co-owner told me to draft Romo over Eli.
Smart co-owner.

You can always pick up Jared Lorenzen for the next four weeks as a backup. :)

We really ought to try our own incredibly unconfirmed-type rumor here at SportsJournalists.com and see if it sticks anywhere.

That's been done. It's how I discovered the site. Couple years ago I was looking for news on Kerry Wood cuz and I found SportsJournalists.com where someone had posted a rumor that he was going to have TJ surgery.

Incredibly unconfirmed + SportsJournalists.com = redundant.

Don't know why everyone is cracking on PFT. Mort basically just did the same thing. He says his sources tell him Eli's out a month, but that the Giants say he's day-to-day and very well could play Sunday. Don't see the difference at all.

Big Ben? Maybe.

Philip Rivers? Try again.

Staying on topic, who knows? Maybe we should start up a pool of our own. Closest to correct gets one of those SportsJournalists.com keepsakes or something. ;)
