To apply: Editor, MiLB.com - MLB Advanced Media - Job Board

An MiLB.com editor is responsible for being the final read on stories for Minor League Baseball’s official website (MiLB.com). He or she will also produce content, occasionally write stories and write headlines and other copy for the site and social media. The ideal candidate will have a passion for and knowledge of baseball, an understanding of the Minor Leagues, a journalism background, strong writing skills and some experience working for an online media outlet. This is a part-time, seasonal position.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Editing Minor League news stories in a tight, deadline-driven environment
  • Editing prospect-related features and blog posts
  • Writing headlines, blurbs and copy for social media
Required skills:

  • 2-4 years of journalism experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, similar field
  • Exceptional writing and copy-editing skills
  • Must know and understand baseball (should understand Minor League Baseball)
  • Proficiency in AP Style
  • Experience with Photoshop and basic HTML
  • Experience with content management systems and web publishing
Job details:

  • Up to 32 hrs/wk
  • Nights and weekends
  • Located in New York City

This would be a sweet gig to have. But what I'm not clear on is the location of the job. Do you need to live and work in New York City to do the job?

Candidates should be able to work in New York City, at least at the start of the baseball season.

Up to 32 hours a week? Does that mean this is part time with no/limited benefits?

Last sentence before primary responsibilities: "This is a part-time, seasonal position." Doubt benefits since it is seasonal.
