I remember that the NY Times couldn't bear to call her a stripper. She was a "dancer".

Um, any newspaper will use the term "exotic dancer" or "dancer." Just sayin'. You may resume the trashing of a subject of rich kids' racial taunts.

Newspapers use more formal titles for occupations, so as not to be perjorative. For example, we don't call a cab driver a "hack" or a flight attendant a "stew"

She deserves to be trashed. She is trash...and a stripper.

Why, precisely? She was racially brutalized, and I'd be tempted to cry rape, too, in the wake of that. And the rich kids got richer. They should send her a cut.

And I dunno if you're a copy editor or in charge of a desk. Professionally, would you mandate the use of the word "stripper" in copy?

Racially brutalized?

According to the state of North Carolina, she was not brutalized. And if you don't want to be called racist, sexist names, I would suggest you not work as a stripper/escort.

Complete nonsense.

I don't know what "hack" or "stew" has to do with this discussion so I will ignore it. She was a stripper, not a dancer. For the Times to continue to call her a dancer is the height of PC silliness.

Isn't prostitute a most accurate description?

Too perjorative.

Poin,

You're extremely judgemental of other people's failings. Why is that?

It's an insult to real dancers.

Where do you come off calling being a stripper a failing, Grimass? My mother's a stripper, dammit!

And a very good at that. Lap Dance Hall of Fame potential, as long as she maintains preseason conditioning program.

Being judgmental of other people's failings is a failing of mine. Feel free to judge me.
