We were at the Primanti's in the Strip District one night for dinner. After five or six rounds of Yuenglings, I ordered a Steel City. The bartender looked at me, the number of empties on our table and said "Are you sure you don't want another Yuengling instead?"

There is a Morton's downtown. If you're going high end, that is the place.

I swear, I went once and I felt like the steak never made it to my stomach...just attached itself to my heart on the way down...and I still didn't care.

Pittsburgh Steak Company on the South Side is good, but not really that kind of high end.

Edit: BYM beat me to Pittsburgh Steak Company. I've been to the Ruth's Chris, too. It was also very good, but I thought Morton's would be better for the purposes you're talking about.

I've always thought Morton's to be more of a guy place. I like the food better at Ruth's Chris, but they're both very good. The Pittsburgh Steak Company is too much of a mid-range, you-can-get-a-sandwich kind of place. It is NOT high-end.
Unfortunately, Pittsburgh doesn't really have its own steak brand, the way Minneapolis has Manny's or Milwaukee has Mo's.

Any time I can get to Ruth's Chris, that's the pick. Morton's is a somewhat distant second.

In terms of fine dining, you'll schmooze the **** out of your clients if you take them someplace on Mt. Washington. Isabela (Grandview Ave.) gets a high mark from me. The views will blow them away. Avoid the chain steak places downtown.

And agreed on the Mt. Washington angle. You can't go wrong there, and there are enough restaurants to choose from.
