CBS' Dennis Dodd threw a bit of a Twitter tantrum after A. A. Ron Rodgers declined an interview with him.

Aaron Rodgers Calls Out Dennis Dodd for Complaining About Not Getting an Interview After Wisconsin’s Win | The Big Lead

Not only was Dodd irritated Rodgers declined to be interviewed, he questioned why Rodgers was on the media only floor, promising the NCAA and Basketball Writers Association would look into the matter.

Jesus, a bit much I think. Get. A. Grip.

I doubt Dodd will get much sympathy from fans. Wonder if he'll get much from his fellow reporters?

I've known Dennis for years and like him a lot. Works hard, cares, yada yada.
While his point about Rodgers (and others who get on the court) may be valid, pick your battles. That one isn't worth it. And Rodgers has the right to say no to any interview request he wants. I hope Dennis' reaction wasn't because he was peeved about Rodgers saying no.

Aaron Rodgers is Aaron Rodgers. He'll get on the court. If that's the worst thing we have to deal with as we try and do our work, we're in pretty good shape.

Note to CBS:

Hire me. I'm tantrum-free. :)

EDIT: Just saw Moddy's note as he posted it. Sadly, I think he took to Twitter because he didn't get the interview. Aaron Rodgers, at least, has Wisconsin connections. It's better than, say, Jay-Z getting on the media floor because he can.

Even if Dodd had a legitimate gripe about working conditions, taking it to Twitter was the wrong idea. If he wants to file a complaint through the USBWA as to who should be credentialed, go right ahead. But getting into an online pissing match with an athlete as popular as Rodgers is a fight he can't win.

Dodd was in a morally outraged mood all night -- including his column, which included much pearl-clutching that a Badger motioned to his man parts to describe Sam Dekker.

But before that ...

I MADE YOU, RODGERS!!!

Aaron Rodgers in one of the biggest moments in the state's history -- ignoring how media has shaped his image -- "I'm not doing interviews"

THIS NCAA TOURNAMENT IS PRESENTED BY CHEVROLET FOR THE PURPOSE OF CELEBRATING DENNIS DODD

Here's the equivalent of what A Rodgers did today. I crash his wedding to Olivia because I'm a big "fan."

THERE ARE REASONED RATIONAL POINTS?

Love how Twitter boils down reasoned rational thought into bullet points.

God forbid the Super Bowl-winning quarterback of Wisconsin's professional football team attends, and roots for, Wisconsin's Final 4 basketball team.

I just don't get it sometimes.

Unless we're counting the State Farm ad execs as part of "the media," I think Dodd is giving us too much credit for Rodgers' reputation/image.

Tweeted by NCAA's David Worlock this morning:

Also, I'm reasonably sure the USBWA (that's one A, Mr. Dodd) has enough issues of its own without worrying about media access to vacationing NFL quarterbacks.

Uh-oh. Romo and Garrett are there for Duke. Those hangers-on better check with press row about who matters deep in the heart of Texas.

Jason King, the other guy in the picture of the two guys getting stiffed by Rodgers:

@MattNorlander how annoyed does rodgers look? Lol. I actually respect him for not doing interviews & taking away from Badgers moment. #class

I find that tweet far less endearing, to be honest. Dodd's apoplexy wasn't a good look, but Aaron Rodgers wasn't "classy" for God's sakes. Classy is you cheer, you walk out of the building and you go home like every other fan who isn't a parent. Just being down there draws attention away from him and toward them. Like Bo Ryan and Wisconsin's players gave a ****, if he was there.

What the hell would Rodgers have said of substance anyways? This is a guy who fiercely defended Ryan Braun and then turtled when the **** hit the fan.

Not for nothing, but I thought Rodgers' tweet was unnecessary. Take the high road, don't resort to name-calling like a 10-year-old.

Speaking as a Wisconsin native, I can guarantee you Wisconsin's players gave a **** he was there. It was probably a huge thrill for them.

As for Dodd? Butthurt journalist vs. MVP quarterback on social media is an unwinnable battle. No need to go public with that at all. Really, no need to be aggrieved period.

This was Sam Dekker after the Sweet 16 win:

“He was talking to me this morning, saying he wants a good show (against UNC),” Dekker said of Rodgers. “He’s been so supportive all year. He’s really behind our backs and reaching out to me if I’m playing well or not playing well and just staying behind me as a good friend. When you have the MVP of the NFL doing that for you, it’s pretty cool.”

Yeah. They don't care nothin' about no Aaron Rodgers.

You know what? You're right. I'm sure it added to their enjoyment.

What I should've written is: They wouldn't have given a **** if he wasn't there. They wouldn't have given it a second thought, they wouldn't have missed somebody who's a sudden celebrity fan. Because he's not part of the program in the way that, say, Magic is a part of Michigan State.

The real point is: of course rodgers drew attention to himself by being down there. He may be so self-absorbed not to realize that, but if you're going to go down there, it's not "classy" to straddle a weird line between "I'm Aaron Rodgers and I'm down here" and "but please, no interviews." It may be a neutral event, but it's not the mark of sophistication

Dodd's fundamentally right. But such is life. Twitter is a useless vehicle for that complaint. And he makes himself a target, too, because it's fashionable to hate reporters.

It's the offseason. And it's a basketball game.
If Rodgers doesn't want to comment, respect that and move on.

How is he "fundamentally right?"
Rodgers wasn't trying to draw attention. From the reports, he's become friendly with the players so he's going on court to congratulate them. How can that be construed as "I'm Aaron Rodgers and I'm down here?" Is he not allowed to be friendly with fellow high-profile athletes?
Dodd got sensitive and thought people would be on his side. He found out quickly he was wrong.
