I liked the column, figured I would before reading it, and I'm not much on Cowlishaw yay or nay. When writers let you in like that, it's usually excellent.

I agree with Drip. Hey, that should go on the "I never thought I would say this" thread.

Awesome column, and nice of Tim to open up and make himself part of the story for the sake of a good piece. Not many relate to pro athletes, obviously, but in circumstances like this, I'm sure there are quite a few who knew exactly what Hamilton felt and was going through.

I'm rooting for Hamilton, and have been for years. I've never been a big Cowlishaw fan, but it took balls to write that column, and I admire that. It sounds like he knows the score, and he knows that, cliché as it sounds, the only way to beat it is one day at a time.

FileNotFound has nailed it. I also never rated Tim's work any better than average. His Cowboys assessments read like a bus schedule, perhaps more predictable than a bus sked, come to think of it. I liked what he did with this wrenching topic this morning. That paper's weak column lineup lost it a lot of readers in the past couple of years. But this column rises to that breaking-the-maiden status. Can't do one of these every day, but it makes up for a few whiffs.

Great column... especially glad that he mentioned he wasn't driving... that's an important piece of information. I wish Josh and Tim both the best.

Tim says he's never been to rehab or an AA meeting, but perhaps he ought to at least think more about the latter. The fact that he still went back to drinking after that head injury is a concern. His transperancy is to be admired.
