So my friend who works in the Boston office of CN8 hears that there will be layoffs coming to the Comcast Network. Not sure how deep it will go until today.

They called every staff member for Boston in, and from what I understand, the same was done at the Philly office and Washington D.C. area office.

So they all get into their respective buildings, go to their meeting rooms and a DVD is popped in. On the DVD is someone from corporate headquarters in Philly explaining to everyone they have through mid-January. Even the guy on the DVD explaining that they are folding shop and everyone is out says he's gone too.

Now is that one hell of a way to hear about the company folding or what?

Well, I guess the mecca they built to themselves went a little over budget, no?

They were going to broadcast it on On Demand, but the cable's been out for three days. Hell, I'm surprised it wasn't on a VHS tape.

Is CN8 different than Comcast SportsNet? I ask because Comcast SportsNet, I believe, just took over a bunch of Fox Sports channels, and wonder what will happen to them.

I hate to see people lose their jobs, but CN8 was the dumbest, dreariest piece of crap in the world. It was like watching old-time public access programming. Comcast definitely needs to do something different. SportsNet is in a different programming universe than CN8.
