Scholars have found evidence that survival tactics at Jamestown Colony included eating their dead, and in one case a man killing his pregnant wife and then eating her.

Amazing they were able to piece it together right down to knowing that the people slaughtering her were right-handed.

This quote from a journal entry from Capt. John Smith was particularly dark: "One amongst the rest did kill his wife, powdered her, and had eaten part of her before it was known, for which he was executed, as he well deserved," Smith wrote. "Now whether she was better roasted, boiled or carbonado'd (barbecued), I know not, but of such a dish as powdered wife I never heard of."

Wonder if he battered the wife first?

It's like the most ****ed up version of "Iron Chef" ever.
"Today's secret ingredient .... Wife!"

The killing and eating of the wife part is new to me, bit the cannibalism part is old news. It's not something the "founding society types" bring up at their pat my ancestor on the back tea parties, but it's true.

I like this line, "There was a cultural stigma against killing someone for food." Really? No ****. And "was" meaning it's acceptable now?

How hard could it have been to be a census taker back then? It's not like there were a lot of people to count.

Am I going to hell for laughing at that. Gold. Pure gold.

The pro-choice crowd is upset that the man killed his wife but happy he killed the baby inside her.
