Bronson Arroyo just doesn't care

Man, that was incredible. Props to Nightengale for getting those quotes.

A sample:

"I took androstenedione the same way I took my multivitamins. I didn't really know if this was a genius move by Mark McGwire to cover up the real s—- he was taking, but it made me feel unbelievable. I felt like a monster."

"If Mark McGwire is hitting 60 homers, the only thing that matters is his performance," Arroyo says. "People don't own teams to lose money. If you ask any owner whether they would rather make $20 million and come in last place or lose $20 million and win a World Series, there's only one guy who honestly would take that championship: George Steinbrenner (of the Yankees). Nobody else."

"You think this country really cares about what ballplayers put in their bodies?" Arroyo asks. "If we really care, why are we pumping Coca-Cola in every kid's mouth, and McDonald's, and Burger King and KFC? That (stuff) is killing people.

The last quote was stupid. Fine, fast food isn't healthy, but one of the great things about being a kid is being able to eat whatever the hell you want and not worry about it. I don't want to live in an America where kids eat their vegetables. :)

Apropos of very little, this commercial cracked me up for embracing its inner cheese.

I also like Bronson Arroyo because it seems everytime I see him, he gets shellacked by the Brewers.

On two consecutive June 24ths (this year and last) Arroyo has faced the Jays in Toronto. His total for the two starts:

4.2 IP, 19H, 16ER, 6HR, 4BB

June 24, 2009 - 3.2 IP, 8 H, 6 ER, 3HR, 3BB
June 24, 2008 - 1.0 IP, 11 H, 10 ER, 3 HR, 1 BB

The one quote in there that really stopped me:

"It might be dangerous," he says, "but so is drinking and driving. And how many of us do it at least once a year? Pretty much everybody."

Speak for yourself.

This is a guy who lives on a boat three months a year and thinks he has honest-to-God musical talent.

Yeah, that drunk driving quote made me cringe. No, everybody's not doing it anymore.

But the rest was outstanding. I used to work in his hometown, staying in touch and seeing him over the offseason, and can attest that Arroyo is as down-to-earth as it gets. I was thrilled when he came to the Reds, though he's all over the map on performance.

And the JTM commercials are classic. Unfortunately I haven't seen any new ones this year.

To be fair, he did not say everybody gets drunk and then drives. He said they drink and drive.
