The 77-78 version with the lettering as "Sixers" with a slight streak behind each letter is the best ever.

There was no more classic ABA uniform than this.

I wish the Pacers would go back to that. Their uniforms have been mostly lousy since then.

Who can forget the FloJo?

But what it replaced was far more hideous.

Though nothing is as hideous as the Pistons' Grant Hill-era jersey, when everybody had to have teal:

The Pacers almost had a navy-and-teal jersey based on the FloJo design in the mid-1990s, with the same font as the Dallas Mavericks currently use (basically, a pretty similar scheme).

The NBA was trying to nudge them in the direction of replacing gold with teal. Apparently, the team rejected it.

The Pacers had that jersey in a display case in a secluded corner of Conseco Fieldhouse a few years ago. I haven't had an usher let me back onto the lower suite level recently to see if it's still there.

Good for them. I think the single most annoying uniform trend of the last couple decades is nearly every single team thinking it has to add black or teal (or both) to it's color scheme.

Throwbacks? '90s? You're young, aren't you?

And a hearty **** you to Paul Snyder and John Y. Brown:
