Left. Right. In a box by the door.
Saw something scrolling across the bottom of the screen during NASCAR Now on espn2 saying that Zeke has been told he won't be returning as the Knicks coach.

And before I could finish that sentence, Chris McKendry said the same thing on SportsCenter.

Post: DONNIE SET TO THROW SWITCH

Disappointingly, no banger at the end of the hed.

Re: Axe fell at the Garden?

April 17, 2008 -- INDIANAPOLIS - KnicksNew York Knicks prez Donnie Walsh is expected to finally announce the axing of Isiah Thomas as head coach either today or the latest tomorrow, but there were indications following last night's season finale Thomas will survive in the organization in some capacity.

Insane. Just providing disgruntled players (or others) a readily-accessible crying shoulder when the new coach and/or GM starts doing things all different than they've been done in the past. As well as a handy "inside source" for embarassing media leaks for the new regime.

If Walsh is smart, he tells Dolan he wants Isiah Thomas gone, fired, terminated, banished, sent out of town once and for all, no matter what it costs.

So... you're saying he shouldn't be back?

I say this every time the topic comes up....if one of us suuuuuuuuuucked at our job, then cost our employer an $11 million sexual harassment suit, we would be gone, gone, gone. He's gotta have pictures of James Dolan screwing a horse...something you would pay $11 million to keep away from people.

Maybe Walsh is doing it as a public service so Thomas won't screw something else up. And by that I mean anything else up, anywhere, as in, the entire globe.

Give Thomas a job in the organization, say, Senior Vice President Of Tapping Secretary Ass and the whole world is helped by isolating him in his element.

Walsh is doing this to help society as a whole. MSG can be like Zeke's Gitmo, in the best possible way.

James Dolan screwing a horse. That's an image I didn't need. Thanks Bill. :D

Re: Axe fell at the Garden?

I've got $50 that says HB's got half a stock because of this news.

He's done as coach, but like the cancerous lesion he is, he's not completely gone.

Countdown until the backstabbing ***** starts leaking information to the tabloids and undermining the new regime: 10... 9...

Donnie Walsh, and whatever suckers you hire as coach and GM, don't say you weren't warned.

Looking forward to Wm Rhoden's column comparing this firing to the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr or the crucifixion of Christ.

I think you're underestimating how much Knicks beat writers hate Isiah, and vice versa. I doubt they want to call him, and I doubt if they did that he'd call back. I think they'll take every single sign of progress--real or imagined--to take another dig at Isiah. He's the biggest joke in the history of NY sports. No one wants him as a source for anything.

Oh, and I bet you this...

And Thomas will be a part of that. Without getting specific, Walsh said there were assignments he'd feel completely comfortable giving to Thomas.

"I will be in touch with Isiah a lot," he said.

...means this:

Walsh: "Hey Isiah what do you think about Player X?"
Isiah: "He's terrible. Want nothing to do with him."
Walsh: "OK." *scribbles out SIGN PLAYER X on piece of paper, gives it to an ass't* "How about player Y?"
Isiah: "A franchise cornerstone. Get him at any cost."
Walsh: "OK." *scribbles out DO NOT SIGN PLAYER Y UNDER ANY CONDITION on piece of paper, gives it to an ass't* "As usual, Isiah, you're a huge help and I couldn't do this without you."

Anyone see the Record's lede on this on the wire tonight?

Ding-dong, Isiah's fired.

Gave me a giggle.

BYH is right. There's not one beat writer that believes anything that comes out of Isiah's mouth. The only person that could possibly be swayed by the Chicago Con Artist is Little Jimmy Dolan.

I've always believed this also. Thomas has something on Dolan in the sexual-harassment thing. Otherwise, Dolan coulda run Isiah's ass out midway through the season.

Of course, I'm a big fan of conspiracy theories and all that stuff.

But why else would Isiah be smiling and so smug all through the hard questions this season?
