Not an AP complaint here, just an oddity. We usually get the normal agate stuff on the AP wire. Baseball glances and boxes, WNBA glances and boxes, things like that. Today, they moved standings for every baseball minor league known to man, career stats for the new hockey hall of famers, standings for Major League Lacrosse and some soccer league I've never even heard of, the CFL, Arena League and USBL, a couple different ways to list the NBA draft picks, and lists of 500-home run guys and 3,000-hit guys along with the usual stuff.
Again, not a complaint. Always better to have too much than too little. But it was just way more than we usually get. Did anybody else notice this?

That's what the package usually looks like, especially the 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. ET transmissions.

I think what happened was the complete agate package moved to everybody, regardless of service level.

We usually don't get the CFL, AFL, USL first division, etc. Can't really run it tomorrow or else people will start expecting it all the time.

We're a small paper, so we usually only get the basics. Just seemed weird to get all of it. Should've figured bigger papers on better service levels got more.

What are the odds an intern was in charge of shipping it all out and hit the wrong button?

Anybody else notice the note with the WNBA Phoenix/Houston box tonight (not that anyone who didn't have to look at such things would)? No official stats available or some such BS. Who's running the WNBA, anyway?

And Batman, that's the normal agate flow around here. What level of service do you guys have there? At an old shop, we had gotten used to using expanded MLB boxes (for years) when the AP suddenly stopped moving them on our wire. Call service desk and apparently we were never supposed to get them in the first place. So we had to beg NY (or wherever in creation the agate desk is) for boxes for a night to get the suits (or whoever) to iron it out the next day. This went on for about a week...

"Yeah, we need some resends on MLB agate."
"OK, what do you need?"
"Um, every expanded box score from tonight. You want me to go down the list?"

Aah, memories. :)

we don't get any extra agate....all of that stuff mentioned is normal here too. AP usually sends minor league basbeall glances all at once bout 3 times a night. Probably just looked unusuaul to you as they probably moved all that the smae time some of this other stuff moved as well. I imagine if you can search your agate wire over the last few weeks, you'll likely find they've been sending most of this stuff all along.

No, Joe, there was plenty of new stuff on there. We're in Mississippi, and our service level is probably low since we're a smaller paper. We usually get the Southern League and PCL glances. This time, we got all of the Class A leagues, as well as stuff like the CFL and Arena League that I know we've never gotten before.
And we haven't gotten it since. So, more than likely, somebody in New York just hit the wrong button.
