University of Wisconsin-Whitewater vs. Mount Union Saturday. It's been the same two teams the previous two years, also.

Mount Union beat Whitewater in the title game in 2005 and '06.

OK, admission time: I'm a Whitewater alumnus, but don't hold much hope as Mount Union appears to be too good for the rest of the D3 field. Mount Union won its semifinal game, 62-14,

Anyone else have an interest in this game?

Yes. I want it to move along quickly and end in regulation. I'm covering it.

D3 grad, lots of interest in it. People are saying it might be the best Mount team, which is saying something considering they've won 9 titles. I think Whitewater's got a chance, although it seems they were stronger the last couple of years when they couldn't beat Mount.

Here's a tidbit you can work into your gamer (or not): John Belushi attended Whitewater.

That made me laugh very hard.

Sorry, unless he was in the two-deep he isn't getting into my story. ;D

It was 57 and sunny here today. Beautiful day.

Saturday forecast: 30s with rain, sleet and snow, in no particular order.

Joy.

Whitewater had the better team -- better than Mount in 2005 -- but pissed the game away.

Mount Union was clearly better last year.

Mount Union is clearly better this year, though Whitewater has a different look on offense (mobile QB) and an O-coordinator who played at (briefly) and graduated from Mount Union.

That'd be some ****ing notebook lede though.

I think UWW will give MUC a run, but in the end the Purple Raiders will win for the THIRD YEAR IN A ROW.

Hey, at least it's a playoff.

Shameless self-plug (since I freelance for the site) www.d3football.com for more on the Stagg Bowl.

My only questions about Mount Union:

Will the Purple Raiders contol the LOS from the start?

If the game is close, how will they respond?

I think they will. They have Greg Micheli at QB and Nate Kmic at RB, both really good runners (Kmic has went over 100 yards in 22 of his 33 career games) will a big offensive line.

I also think if the game is close, they'll respond like Larry Kehres-coached teams do: They will adjust. They'll adjust and go with what's working. My prediction, MUC 34-20.

Don't forget about Garcon. He is the guy who has killed Whitewater in each of the last two years...

Although I agree Mount Union has the better team, this has been such a goofy season I would not be stunned to see WW pull off the upset.

How could I forget Pierre Garcon? The former Norwich (Vt.) transfer has a chance to go pro, in fact a couple of draft boards have him on as a late day-two choice at the point. We'll see about that, though.

Graduated from UW-Whitewater as well and proud as hell.

Hated to see the Warhawks lose the way they did in '05, and am hoping for a competitive game this time around...

I think it's good karma that Derek Stanley was signed by the Rams off their practice squad today...

As long as Muhlenberg's season ended before this weekend, I'm happy as hell.

Go UWW. Go Mt. Union. Either one works.
