I did.
I was three years old and waking up afterwards and being handed a Fisher-Price fire truck by a nurse is literally my very first memory.

Yes, yes I have. Three years ago. I was almost terrified going in, but had great docs and nurses and when I woke up in recovery I was almost dancing on the bed.

I had laparoscopic right inguinal repair with mesh.

They went in through my navel and did it without much damage. I can still wear a bikini... ok, that made me throw up a bit in my mouth.

I had double hernia done, they opened me up hip point to hip point. The surgeon said afterward I had "manly" hernias. Lapro is common but if they're really big tears they may want more access to do the patchwork.

I was in significant pain for about three days, say about 7 on a scale of 10. They gave me a holster belt with two bottles of lidocain that pumped the numbing agent into my abdomen through little tubes -- I looked like I was toting twin six-shooters. After Day 2 I was out of juice. I also had Vicodin but I didn't find it very effective.

After the third day it was like the pain switched off. I got up and went grocery shopping.

I don't know the technical terms, but I had two hernias this past summer, one in my belly button, the other on the right side of my crotch. The surgeon did it laproscopically, put two holes on either side of my belly button. I never was in much pain, in fact she had prescribed either Vicodin or Percoset for me at home, but I never used anything stronger than Tylenol.

Yeah, this isn't me so far. But it'll be ok. It'll get better.
