I know it's not realistic for a lot of people in this business, but I believe in my heart that some of the things she does can be accomplished on a smaller scale at newspapers around the country. In many cases, editors and publishers, beancounters and even co-workers will fight you ever step of the way. And so often, the fight doesn't seem worth it.

Fight anyway. Just because.

It's Anne, and she's world class.
Had the honor of working with her. She's as humble as she is talented.
She's recommended reading, regardless of what she's writing. We'll never be able to write like her. But pay attention to how she pays attention, and you can't help but learn. It's in the details, the reporting, the senses, the compassion, the elegance, not the big, fancy words.
