Only slightly kidding. Both were huge stories. Tiananmen Square overshadowed the other by quite a bit.

I always heard that his family was billed for the cost of the bullet that executed him. But that is probably an urban legend.

I had graduated from law school and had a tour of the Far East all lined up after taking the bar exam in July, including a great deal of time in China. With civil unrest brewing, bailed on the Far East and drove cross-country with my buddy in his brand new Jeep Cherokee. It was great to see the US from California to New York but man I wish Tiananmen Square never happened so I could have taken that trip.
