    Sports editor, San Antonio Express-News

Haven't been on here in a long while, but Doug Pils, outing alert -- that's me, is leaving to help run the Student Media Department at Texas A&M. I'll be advising the students working for the newspaper, website and yearbook and helping run the business side of things. I'll be here through the...

    Sports Editor, Bloomington (Ind.) Herald-Times

And the winner is current assistant Pat Beane. Congrats. http://blogs.heraldtimesonline.com/iusp/?p=9571

    AP sports job: Fayetteville, Ark.

Do they mean based in Fayetteville? I thought Noah was in Little Rock.

    Houston Chronicle offering buyouts

E-N guy, Brent Zwerneman, lives in College Station. He's the one who broke the story on Fran's secret newsletter last year, so the Chron won't suffer using his copy.

    San Antonio SE to NBA.com

I'm told story was not a byline, just a hold to cover staff report. It was also done because AP California stood no chance of filing a report from a 9:30 p.m. Central start in time to make a Central deadline.

    Sports Editor, Fayetteville, NC

Leave the DMN for some place smaller? Sure, why not? --Dennis will have freedom like he hasn't known in sometime. --He'll be where people value his input. --He'll be in a place that hasn't had three staff reductions since 9/11. --He'll get to do things he never could have done in Dallas. --And...

This isn't the first time Whitmire has been demoted is it?

    Columnist, Austin American-Statesman

Good for Cedric. He's a good guy. I guess that means there's still an opening, so your stamp may not have been totally wasted. I'm betting there were plenty of folks who sent resumes not qualified to be a columnist, but plenty qualified to fill Cedric's shoes.

"Not at liberty?" Assuming you're at work in the Belo Death Star, you've already posted this much, why stop there? Yates out? Yates promoted for saving Belo stockholders so much money? "Not at liberty." Please, this board gives you liberty.

Does your paper write about Fantasy Football?

We run a weekly fantasy page that seems well received. We also have a Web presence that delves into who's hot, who's not and who's a good play on a given day or week. Judging by the Web hits, I'd say it gets a regular readership, which, oddly enough, is what we're in the business of doing --...

UPDATE: Riverside P-E Staff Writer FILLED

Re: Riverside Press-Enterprise Staff Writer Well, then. Consider me checked. Whatever. Even if it wasn't known on the Richmond thread, it's still a bush move. Show some courtesy, PM the guy with a question like that. Do you want your every job flirtation posted on a message board? Dave's a...

UPDATE: Riverside P-E Staff Writer FILLED

Re: Riverside Press-Enterprise Staff Writer I understand what you're saying Moddy. Good points all. It just seemed fishy to me that someone would create a login just to let the cat out of the bag.

UPDATE: Riverside P-E Staff Writer FILLED

Re: Riverside Press-Enterprise Staff Writer Nobody else finds this bull**** unprofessional?! When we go looking for jobs we don't need some a-hole creating a login just to out us while we're looking for a job. Maybe not everyone wants that advertised.

    Big Doings in Dallas

So will today just be the message that Belo's offering buyouts to X-amount of people? How long will the Beloites have to reach that number before the real D-day comes -- the day when layoffs are imposed to reach the Dream Committee's magic number?
  15. B

    Big Doings in Dallas

Amen to that. Belo management only cares about how big the year-end bonus will be for saving/making all that money for the stockholders. Belo stock is down to $16 a share, down from near $30 in early '04 after that last staff purge in late '03. This smells of trying to produce another stock...

    Tick Tock T.O.

I took it to mean "Tick Tock" as in a bomb waiting to explode. As in, it's only a matter of time before T.O. blows. (/double meaning intended) Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

    Tick Tock T.O.

Does anybody else think the headline for this little ditty has an editorial slant to it? It seems a bit prejudicial.

    Low Paying Jobs

Central Texas (resort town), 1992, $325 a week. Apartment was $600 a month. Do the math. The pay was less than what my two college jobs paid me. I learned a lot and like FNF said, there was no one there to teach me a damn thing. You have to learn from your own mistakes (assuming you find them)...
