Writer to cover Notre Dame sports

Why wouldn't you call it a job? I get paid for my work. In my three years as a contributor I've done a lot of things that I never would've been able to do with my full-time newspaper gig. Don't sell yourself short.

I am a regular contributor to IrishEyes magazine and the site is well respected. Mike Frank is highy thought of. If I were still in Indiana I would apply for this.

    Freelancer in Midwest

I've covered the MLB, NBA, NFL and NCAA baseball, football and hoops. I have five years combined experience and two as a sports editor. I am in Wisconsin but am willing to cover anything in the Midwest. Please contact me at [email protected] for any opportunities. Thanks.

Bubbler, I agree with you. But the problem is, when decisions come down the almighty dollar, Packer coverage is expendable. Which of course is sad.

Why would Havel be a front runner...that's a laugh. Here's a guy that got canned because wanted to take all of his vacation at once because his shoulder caused him to much heartache to type. The P-G had enough and let him go. I can remember when he was working on a Favre column. The night that...

Hoops, Was Brad your SE? If so, when?
  7. Oshkosh

    Packers writer, Journal Sentinel

Brad is good people. He's bar-none of the nicest SE's I've ever had. When the news came down about Dylan, Zimanek and Tomlinson were the last people to know. The worst part of the job cut is that the P-C's Packers Preview and Packers Final (which were very good) will be almost entirely filled...

It wasn't the SE, it was the suits at Gannett.

Tomlinson is apparently still freelancing for someone. I caught a peek of of the local TV sports not long ago and saw him in the background with his trusty tape recorder in the Don Hutson Center.

Dylan Tomlinson would also be a solid hire. He was the beat writer for the P-C before the paper fazed out the job due to economic reasons.

Yeah, but wouldn't working for a weekly publication be considered a step down from what Jason Wilde is doing right now at the WSJ? Seeing as how they're looking for someone that is young that can offer up their layout skills, I suppose there hasn't been any mention of where to apply.

If Mark Cuban could change your sports section, here's what he'd do:

We got to read the Mark Cuban newspaper opinion from a forward from our managing editor. Ironically, our ME agrees with Cuban, but on Tuesday we are going to this new platform where we transform ourselves from a newsgathering operation to a community one. For our sports section, we have to have...

    Strahan's 'tirade toward media'

I agree, I don't think Strahan lost his cool at all. He was just upset that "The Worldwide Leader" once again made an ant out of a molehill.
