As the Mercury-News pointed out recently, there aren't a lot of female sports editors at big papers. San Jose wasted no time promoting a woman when it had the opportunity, and wasted even less time patting itself on the back for doing so. And I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that...

The T-U sports section has some issues, just like nearly every other sports section. They did tremendous work during the Super Bowl a couple years ago. And their sports editor is on top of things despite some questionable hiring decisions. The criticisms of the city I just don't get. It's a...
