That quote aside, many, many years ago a psychiatrist introduced me to cognitive behavioral therapy and it absolutely changed my life and I use it every day of my life decades later. I would recommend it for liberals, conservatives, old, young, male, female, whether you're on 5 antidepressants and antianxiety meds or zero. That and learning about common cognitive distortions and how to manage them on a day-to-day basis. Folks should use it in just their everyday life to deal with things, even if there is no mental health problem. But when it comes to mental health issues, whether depression or many others, we have decades of research showing how effective it can be in treating it.

Somewhere earlier, on some thread, I suggested my 6 year old grandson was evil. Guess what?? He's not. He's a super intelligent boy with bad parenting for an adhd condition. The FAMILY is engaging in therapy. First CDI, (Child Directed Interaction,) then PDI (Parent Directed Interaction). Then a bunch more. It's ongoing but the experts think my grandson will catch up to emotions vs brain. He is taking a low dose something (Not the stimulant kind) but the therapy is more parent oriented. INCREDIBLE difference in this child. AND his parents. Obviously this isn't the thread you wanted this to land on, but therapy is real, And can change lives.

The thing about DeSantis is that he was a jerk, and an a-hole and the Fla. GOP did well in the mid-terms so they figured "more and bigger" is what people want.

Hear, hear.

Ten years ago, Cognitive behavioral therapy along with a rigorous workout routine rewired my brain in ways the closest people around still can hardly believe, sending me along a life path that seemed impossible just a year before. From 320 pounds, isolated, debilitated by anxiety and actively trying to kill myself with my life choices to 170 pounds, married with a child, outwardly and internally optimistic and happy.

There are first steps you need to take to be ready for behavioral therapy to stick, but once it does it can be a game changer.

But as others have said, many still require medication and other strategies. So many would live a better life with some minor adjustments to how they see themselves and the world and recognize how their brain is often actively tricking them.

I don’t think I post like a duck. And I certainly don’t vote like one.

I don't care how you claim to vote. At the risk of over-extending the metaphor, I definitely see the quacking when you post. I won't speak for others, but I certainly don't seem to be alone in that.

Bari Weiss journalism.

Remember this?

I Thought I Was Saving Trans Kids. Now I’m Blowing the Whistle.

Consider this.

Maybe the University of Austin can look into it.

“Unverified first person account” is an interesting way of describing a sworn affidavit.

But, that said, Reed’s lawyer’s statement to the PD - parents and those transitioning are happy now, just like opioid addicts, but the cost is coming - isn’t really related to her original claims, and seems like an altered argument.

Which part is the sworn affidavit?

All I see is a link to a letter to the AG.

I’m not sure there’s any Republicans on the board at all. At least not Trump Republicans. And I’m neither at any rate.

But I do view Trump to be somewhat a reaction to the Democrats drifting away from core economic issues.

Funny how you always regurgitate Republican talking points, such as trying to blame Democrats for Trump.
