After 51 years, someone has finally translated the mysterious writings of the mysterious serial killer.

I was a little boy in SF when this was going on and I used to be scared when it got dark thinking that the Zodiac Killer might come knocking (even as a young boy I read the whole SF Chronicle).

Reading now. This better end with Ted Cruz being the killer.

The Bay Area seemed to be Ground Zero for some crazy stuff: Zodiac Killer, Symbionese Liberation Army and Patty Hearst, Harvey Milk and George Moscone, "We Built This City" by Starship.

And the Zodiac Killer, if still alive, would be in his 80s now. The last killing attributed to him was the cab driver in San Francisco on Oct. 13, 1969 and the last letter to the Chronicle was in 1974.

To remain anonymous and still free for 50 years is pretty unbelievable. Someone would have known enough information to trip him up by now. If he enjoyed getting that much publicity, he would have continued to harass the police and not just disappear from the public eye.

My uneducated guess is that the murderer wound up serving time on an unrelated charge or died soon after his last letter. We'll never know.

The bay area also produced Testament, Exodus, Death Angel, and Metallica. That's almost enough to atone for Starship.

    Almost.

Add Huey Lewis and the News and it cancels Starship.

If you look up "punchable face" in the dictionary, you'll see a picture of Mickey Thomas.
