Rolling Stone had listed Jessica Simpson as one of the favorites for the job. Thank God they went with DeGeneres.

It was a little sarcasm. I think it's appropriate for people like Scribe who think being gay is like having the flu. As if being gay is contagious and if treated properly you can become heterosexual.

You bring the discussion into something where it doesn't even matter. You didn't refer to Randy or Kara (not Cara as you misspelled it) or Simon as straight, so you clearly want to make it an issue.

That certainly would have filled the "nonsensical rambling" vacuum left by Paula.

'Ellen DeGeneres Show' sued over song use
Record companies claim songs used without permission

    Associated Press

    Sept 10, 2009, 06:20 PM ET
NASHVILLE -- Some of the world's largest recording companies are suing "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," claiming producers violated their copyrights by playing more than 1,000 songs without permission.

Many of the songs were played during the "dance over" segment of the show, when DeGeneres dances from the stage to the interview area, often through the audience.

According to the suit filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Nashville, when representatives of the recording companies asked defendants why they hadn't obtained licenses to use the songs, defendants said they didn't "roll that way."

"As sophisticated consumers of music, Defendants knew full well that, regardless of the way they rolled, under the Copyright Act, and under state law for the pre-1972 recordings, they needed a license to use the sound recordings lawfully," the suit states.

Just by the list of plantiffs I would assume it is purely a licensing issue, but I don't know who owns which show, have they done promotions or business before, etc.

It seems rights were not legally obtained/acquired before usage, based the the link.

Get off your radical "in search of anything homophobic" crusade. Would you hire a newspaper editor to do heart surgery? Would you hire a McDonalds manager to examine global warming?

Case closed and take the defensiveness somewhere else.
