The taxpayers voted to approve the bonds for the specific purpose of building the football stadium. The year before, they voted for a $219 million bond to build new schools and improve technology in existing ones.

Wowee. That's a pretty damn sweet stadium.

Texas does have some of the finest stadiums I've ever seen. The best one I've personally covered a game in is the Berry Center in Cypress, Texas, just outside of Houston.

And then five years from now, the taxpayers will be whining that they are overtaxed when the teachers ask for a 3 percent raise.

A teacher with no experience and a bachelor's degree starts at $45,000 in Allen ISD. $18,000 more per year than the state minimum for new teachers in Texas. $11,245 more than the average starting salary for new teachers in Texas.

There's a new stadium for the college in my coverage area that two high schools will use and it pales in comparison to this. The one thing about Texas is the real estate market didn't tank like other Sun Belt areas.

How very socialist of you. They already have the Robin Hood plan in Texas that takes money from rich district's and redistributes it to poorer ones. What more do you want. As a tax payer, paying local school taxes and having them distributed outside my school district doesn't seem right. But that's just me.

I think you are going to lose this battle. Allen is one of the best school district's in the state of Texas. About 10 years ago they were already arranging for students to have their own computers at least at the high school and junior high level. Don't know about elementary schools. We are talking about an area that is booming, has money and is very affluent. Yes probably the stadium is a bit overboard, but if the people of Allen approved it, then go ahead and build it. You'd be surprised how many people make the decision to move to an Allen or Southlake because of the education their kids can get there and the high school sports programs.

Capacity-wise, the stadium won't even be the largest HS stadium in the state.
And I also have no problem with this as a voter-passed issue. Allen isn't exactly hurting for dough, nor or they cheating their employees. The superintendent makes quarter of a million dollars, teachers are among the highest paid in the metroplex, and the area is growing. This is an attraction, both to families moving to the area...thus helping the economy as a whole. And these stadiums bring in the money by hosting playoff events. And this one will fill every week. It may take a lot longer for this one to pay for itself then some others might, but the benefits are definitely worth the build.

None because you can't do that in Texas.

    Next question.

Why didn't they just move this one?
