Ha! Here we have a Five Guys and an In-N-Out less than a mile apart.

    We win!

Gov. Moonbeam showing more balls than Arnie ever did (except, of course, when he was balls-deep in the help):

True, but In-N-Out's fries come from real potatoes they peel and cut at the store, not the sugared-up, processed, bagged and frozen variety you get at McD's and BK.

Five Guys' fries are awesome, and they give you so much of them you can feed a family of four with one order. The biggest knock on Five Guys is the price.

(In DFW we have both chains. Supposedly Fatburger is coming too, and when that happens I'll do cartwheels.)

Does the fact that both of those guys have been elected governor say all you need to know about California?

Location, location, location. Southern California > North Texas.

We have Five Guys in California. No. 5 on the hamburger state list behind In N Out, Tommies, Fatburger and Fuddruckers.

Anyone who ranks Fuddruckers ahead of Five Guys is prima facie insane.

don't forget Umami Burger, The Counter, and Father's Office (LA, I know). But Five Guys has to be above Fuddruckers

Another chain making inroads here is Red Robin. The meals are pricey for what you get (probably $15 each) but the service is good. Another West Coast import in DFW.

Fuddruckers wins on the basis of its fixings bar.
