  1. Aw yeah. That's right.

Time to bust out the time-tested ...
"The Hilljacks got quite Halloween scare Friday night at Stumpjump High."
    Or
"Podunk High, hoping for a treat, ended up a trick Friday night at Hillbilly High."

Or any variation of the Hallwoeen scare, trick or treat theme.

    Gold.
    Gold.

This is the Supr Bowl Sunday for prep football ledes!

If I'm ever and editor, I will chop a finger off of anyone using a holiday lede.

Podunk High didn't need a spooky Halloween costume on Friday night, the Fightin' Hillbillies performance was scary enough for East Podunk.

Have holiday ledes have officially replaced Tale of two halfs/games/matches yet for worst lede idea?

East Hillbilly High was like Dracula Friday night, because it sucked.

The Podunk High fans felt a bit Linus on Saturday night, waiting for the Great Pumpkin/comeback that never came, no matter how earnest their cheers/pumpkin patch.

It was a tale of two halves.
It was the best of games, it was the worst of games.

Double secret bonus if you use one as a headline and the other as the lede

Thanks to a spook-tacular performance by senior running back Biff Johnson Friday night, the East Side Hilltoppers sliced through Western like a razor through a Snickers bar, capturing the Section 2A title with a 22-14 victory.

Right wing Jacob Shitsniffer lit the Jack-O-Lantern twice Friday night and a four-ghoul second period lifted the Hiljacks over Podunk 5-3.

How many points do I get for working two holidays into one lead?

In a game played on the eve of Halloween, the Podunk High Porcupines were already looking ahead to Christmas.
The Porcupines turned the ball over six times to present the visiting BFE Egyptians with a shockingly easy 38-13 win before a spooked crowd at Porcupine Stadium.
