I read somewhere about "The Mattingly Jinx" about how the team has never won anything with him as a player or a coach...

Mattingly should be thankful he didn't get the job. One of the most beloved figures in Yankees history can safely remain one of the most beloved figures in Yankees history.

Yogi's still beloved, even though he got fired twice.

Yogi doesn't get near the ovation Mattingly does at Old Timers' Day. More's the pity.

I'm weird, but the thread title sounds perverse.

"Yeah, do you like that, Joe? Does it feel good?"

Mattingly will not be in the organization next year.

And I think one of the reasons A-Rod opted out is because there were strong indications Girardi would be the manager.
And there has been talk that in their days of sharing the catching with the Yankees, Posada had no use for Girardi.

This is a disaster in the making .. delightfully so.

Maybe then it's sayonara for Posada.

I agree......and the Sox will be giving it long and hard to Girardi and his team 19 times next year.

Good thing he was a catcher.

So with Cpl. Louis LeBeau as the manager, who is going to be the pitching coach? Sgt. James 'Kinch' Kinchloe? Sgt. Andrew Carter? Cpl. Peter Newkirk?

    Major Hochstetter.
That way, when they need to make a pitching change, he can go out to the mound and yell "WHAT IS THIS MAN DOING HERE!?"

Well, sometimes it seems that Sgt. Schultz is umpiring games. They see NOTHING!
