WTF is Ford's ad agency thinking?

I can't stand this new ad for the Freestar minivan.

It's normal enough, mom, dad and two kids enjoying a variety of weekend activities. Then, in the final seconds, it takes this bizarre twist. The van stops in front of some duplex-looking building, dad gets out with his luggage. The kids hug him while he looks at the mom and he thanks her for inviting him. He then tells the kids he'll see them next weekend.

Who greenlighted that commercial? How did the pitch go? "Here's what we'll do, we'll use divorce to sell our minivan!"

 

And you didn't even mention that choad from American Idol who makes me fantasize about the "possibilities" of tearing my eardrums out with a phillips-head screwdriver...

 

Ford. Keeping families apart for generations.

 

Ford: Because Daddy drinks too much

 

Ford: Because mommy wouldn't let daddy go ass-to-mouth.

 

Ford: Because I caught mommy going down on the mailman

 

I just cracked up over that one. Well played.

 

Ford: Because Our New Mommy is 25 and Has 36C's

 

Ford: Because she can't cook worth a shit.

 

Ford: Because Daddy Loves Mommy's Sister in That Way

 

Ford: It's Just a Commercial, Charlie Brown

 

Ford: Because daddy likes boys.
