Last year a team in our coverage area got beat 88-0 in Class AA football, and the team in our area walked off the field and quit in the late third quarter.. I think that has to be a state record to get beat that badly.. maybe nationally?

It's probably not even within a touchdown of the record, to be honest.

The football coach whose victories sparked the rule change in Connecticut won a game 90-0.

Covered a prep baseball game that ended via the mercy rule with the home team leading 43-1 after 4 1/2 innings.

Georgia Tech beat that team 222-0 a long time ago, and that was college.

    Sounds like mercy deferred.

Hate to see the ERAs of that pitching staff.

We've had two in the past three years: basketball shutouts. 65-0, 48-0.

Remember: ERA means the runs are earned.

43-1 losses are more than a lack of pitching. Some of that HAS to be inept fielding.

Let's see ... a 17-2 ice hockey game, a 12-0 girls soccer game and 101-16 girls basketball game.

Well I guess the West Virginia slaughter-fests come nowhere close to elsewhere.. This saddens me.. That same school's boys' basketball team went 0-23 for their entire season...
