    When?

Hell, that's only a four hour trip from here to Ottawa. We could go drinking with Jones.

Oh, and Canada beat Latvia 7-0.

Aye, I saw most of the game while on the treadmill.

I am planning on flying into YHZ on July 9. My high school reunion is that weekend. I have two weeks off. The rest of the timeline has yet to be determined. But it is definitely mid-July.

Gord Miller was saying that the fire alarm in the hotel went off this monring at 6:30, just about the time the Latvians were returning from Bar Central which he said is owned by a Latvian.

Can you imagine the amount of beer the guy is gonna go through in the tourney?

Haligonians, you've just met your match: Latvia.

Are you kidding? Arrrgh! No ... I figure I'll be pickled on a beach somewhere between Ottawa, Quispamsis and Antigonish.

Re: World Hockey Championship Running Thread...Canada vs USA, May 6 3:30

Ok, two of the front runners are up today at 3:30.

For Canuckistans at work, it'll be on TSN broadband --don't know if our American bretheren can get that.

Anyway, should be a good game. For the most part the young kids have taken over Team USA: Kane, Kessel, Parise, so no more Guerin, Modano, Chelios. About time.

Good chance these two teams could end up in the gold medal game, although Russia might have something to say about it.

Should be the game of the round-robin. Looking forward to it.

    Nice piece in today's Star.

It's fairly clear that the old Canada/Sovier/Russia rivalry has been replaced by Canada/US.

The teams are the only two filled with NHLers, pitting teammate against teammate.

"You want to beat your best friends more than anything," said Canadian captain Shane Doan, citing Phoenix teammates Peter Mueller and Keith Ballard on the American team. "The guys who are close to you, you want to beat them.

"It's bragging rights along with everything. I think that adds to the game."

Tim Thomas is in net for the Yanks, Cam Ward for the Canucks.

    Game on!
