If Men's college hockey or lacrosse were given the same amount of coverage, on the same outlets, would they get higher ratings?

Not sure about the other two teams you mentioned, but one reason Gonzaga's women's team often wins as a low seed is they host the first and second round games on campus. They're hosting again this season because their fans will fill a relatively small arena (6,000), as opposed to playing at a neutral site where you'd hear echoes.

On the other end of the spectrum, Notre Dame is one of the nation's best women's teams, and the Irish get to travel to Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City for opening round games. As a No. 1 seed!

There wws a "big game" last week b/t ND and UConn. It was on the highlight shows.

It came down to the end. Both teams were clueless and ND stole a crazy dumb pass. ND came down and scored on the worst defense ive ever seen.

It is horrible basketball. Horrible everything. If that makes me sexist so be it.

The big difference between those three sports is, at least women's college basketball is national in scope. You can gin up some interest in a lot of different areas. College hockey and lacrosse -- as well as baseball and softball -- are very much regional sports.

In the 2010 championship game, UConn played Stanford in a battle of the nation's two best teams. This was at the time UConn had won 77 games in a row and was on its way to BEATING UCLA'S STREAK!!!!!!!

The halftime score was 20-12 Stanford. UConn was stuck on five points for 10:26 of the first half -- and fell behind by a grand total of seven in that time.

And that was the most dominant group in the game's history.

There are about 10 good women's team every year. Maybe 5 with a chance for winning the thing.
I would have thought the women's game would have developed more since the WNBA came to be, but it hasn't.

15 scholarships. No one leaves early. Not many transfers as players sit on good teams rather than transfer to a lesser program for playing time.

Drop it to 11 scholarships (as the men should, too) and spread out the talent. It certainly made college football a better game.

Then you're running afoul of Title IX. Even though it would open up more opportunities, the Christine Brennans of the world would be in hysterics.

And yet UConn doesn't have to leave the state until the Final Four.
If UConn gets to the Final Four, it will have played 14 consecutive non-Final Four postseason games (including the Big East Tournament) in either Connecticut or Rhode Island, and 19 of its last 21. The two floaters were in Philadelphia in 2011.
The last time UConn had to travel any distance at all was 2010 (Norfolk-Dayton-San Antonio).
North Carolina and Duke fans think that sort of homecourt advantage is ridiculous.
