Women now eligible for Hockey Hall of Fame

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by Double J, Mar 31, 2009.

  1. This thread has been an education, though. I had no idea that our sistren in Canuckistan had been involved in hockey for as long as they have. Googling these folks has been fun.

Women's hockey team from University of Toronto, circa 1912. The City of Toronto Archives has some fabulous stuff like this.

Here's a thought ... does including women in the HHOF now absolve Paul Henderson of the 'average NHL player' tag and favour him induction?

Paul had never been in my Hall.

  6. Doesn't The Most Important Goal Ever get him in?

Double J thinks he should be a lead pipe cinch.

As dramatic as the series and goal were, I don't think he belongs; however, I think there should be a permanent display for the series.

And the display must include the Globe & Mail article by the legendary Dick Beddoes on a professor friend of mine who went to Moscow for the games unbeknownst to his college--he had someone cover his classes.

Unfortunately the Globe article outed him and he lost his job immediately upon his return to Canuckistan. Guy's been dining out on that story for 36 years. He said he can't remember being drunk for such an extended period of time.

I would have no problem with a permanent display. Much more appropriate.

    It's mind-boggling that there isn't one.
