Without Sullivan and Gleason, what's left to read in the Buffalo News?

    This is a big problem with newspaper sports sections right here, editors making the same paint-by-numbers resource allocation decisions as they always have. Spending thousands of dollars for a dateline on a game story while the Athletic spends money on talent that can give people something they actually want to read.

    It's possible - I don't know this - that he's providing the byline for all BH properties, and, because the News doesn't have AP copy, the juice is worth the squeeze.

    I don’t believe he was fired. There’s still plenty of turf writers, just not at newspapers.

    You mind saying what paper? I know that Gannett has some absurd jobs now that INCLUDE being sports editor.

    It was a small daily in what was then the Media General chain. They eventually did give a remaining sports writer the title, but went without an SE for in name and salary for a while.
