    Interesting. Are “drug free school zones” necessary to protect our children, or just one more way that we over criminalize drug transactions, leading to long prison sentences?

    I saw that story yesterday: Is the playground pusher a myth? Reason - which I think has a libertarian bent - has a lot of really thought-provoking, even-handed pieces on a wide range of topics. I like it.

    Of course, we've long-known that the playground pusher's close relative, the playground abductor, is largely a myth. I'm always surprised at how many alarmists remain out there when confronted with them somewhere like Facebook.

    Selling to an adult, at a gas station, at night, over 500’ from a school doesn’t seem to be what the law was intended to prevent.

    We all want our kids to be free from predators of all kinds, but, as usual, these laws are overly broad, leading to unintended consequences.
