Why we miss copy editors, part whatever

    Pointing out that newspapers need copy editors is all for not. For all intensive purposes, the age of sufficient copy desks is over.

    "For all intensive purposes" is my favorite phrase to see in a quote. I have seen it several times, including when newspapers presumably employed copy editors.

    Maybe this piece had a copy editor, and he just slit his wrists rather than wade through that.

    Man if I saw this I would of brought it straight to the writer's attention. Someone should of said something before going to print.

    Man, I always reflect on the preciousness of copy editors. At my shop - a 16K daily - our news editor doubles as copy editor, and there are more than a few careless mistakes that make it into the paper. It's so frustrating, simply because only one pair of eyes generally look over any given story.
