No, Tarheel... Doodah is the dog in the Leghorn cartoons... the ones where Leghorn takes the stick and thwacks the dog's ass with it.

OK, back on topic: People like Romenesko because he tells the truth about the media. If massive layoffs are about to occur in a chain, if a journalist gets in trouble (plagiarism, etc.), chances are even money Romenesko will have the truth before anyone else. Still has good sources.

Poynter would like to think they've created a platform for their version of journalistic ethics, among other things.

Their concept of same was, and remains, laughable.

There's NOTHING at the Poynter site for anyone, now. It's a sustained circle-jerk. Game over.

Why are we discussing the webmaster of Starbucksgossip.com on a site for journalists?

(He really is the webmaster of Starbucksgossip.com)

Yes, he ran something on a couple of local Starbucks in NYC closing their bathrooms to the public, right?

Yeah, that was a recent post, but he constantly updates the site, and allows comments and discussion.

A leaked memo from Howard Schultz that he published a few years ago got him the most press.

First of all, no serious journalist believes Romenesko is disgraced. He's respected because he knows his shit and he contextualizes what's going on in an industry that's changing faster than any of us can understand. And I'm obviously not talking about the coffee.

You're seriously stupid, aren't you? Like, flat-out dumber than a bag of worn down hammers stupid?

I'm torn between doodah being dumber than a pile of dog doo-doo or a regular poster laughing his/her ass off at all of us.

Have you heard of facts? The only truth here is that he has not found a newspaper job, because he started his own blog, which is likely getting far more hits than Poynter now.

And Poynter created controversy about his attribution methods, and the word plagiarism might have been bandied about, but they never questioned his methods before this, and his methods were similar to most bloggers', linking to other sources, etc. As has been stated, he was starting up his own site, and Poynter might have been trying to damage his credibility. Guess it worked on you. Didn't work on most journalists, who were pissed off at Poynter for the stunt.
